Q: What does it mean to design and build green?

A: My personal view is there are 4 main components  1-Design; Taking advantage of  building location and orientation for prevailing wind patterns for natural ventilation,  sun orientation for natural light and passive heat gain.2. Use less energy.  The latest building technology provide  better insulated building therefore less waste 2- Using renewable materials such as bamboo and 4. Specifying local materials to cut down on transportation cost 3- Recycling and reuse of materials already manufactures such as recycled glass, flooring, recycled carpet materials.

Q: How much more expensive is ‘Green Construction’ than conventional building?

A:  Green building techniques are first and foremost using common sense.  Cutting down on waste.  Many so called green building techniques not only make sense but have become mainstream building standards, not  because they are green but because they are more efficient and more cost effective.
